With one taste of Agrimontana’s quince jam, you’ll know why the quince is one of history’s most prized fruits. While it’s not common in the U.S., the fruit, which looks like a lumpy yellow pear, has a unique flavor that’s part vanilla, part guava, part pear—and all delicious. In antiquity, quince was grown in Iran, Turkey, and Greece, where it was a symbol of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Its intensely honeyed flavor is sure to inspire love in your home.

This “extra jam” is so named because it is packed with as much fruit as can fit into the jar, without additional fillers or too much sugar. The result is a thick, luscious jam that spreads easily and lets the pure, intoxicating flavor of the fruit shine through.

Piedmont shares a border with France and Switzerland in the northwest of Italy. It’s a region that is reknowned for its agricultural bounty, home to decadent specialties including white truffles, barolo, and arborio rice. Azienda Agrimontana’s history in Piedmont began 50 years ago, when Cesare Bardini began selling jams, candied fruit, and chestnuts in 1972. Bardini had one mission: to share the natural riches of his home across Italy.

To this day, Agrimontana is dedicated to creating deliciously clean products using traditional methods, without added colors, preservatives, or flavorings. They focus on sustainable agriculture that preserves the beauty of their home while encouraging biodiversity.

Quince jelly, known in Italian as cotognata and in Spanish as membrillo, is a common sight on charcuterie boards. This jam serves that purpose well, as the subtle flavor of the fruit pairs fantastically with cheese of all kinds, from mild to pungent. But it also can also be used to make an elegant crostini dolloped on top of creamy ricotta, or a delicious jam crostata.
