We've been longtime proponents of turning to the slow cooker in entertaining times of need - and what better day to utilize it than the Superbowl?

Superbowl Sunday might as well be an official holiday in the US-- thanks to clever commercials, epic halftime performances, and decadent snacks, it's an exciting day even for those of us who aren't the biggest of football fans.
Superbowl Sunday is all about the fun (and competition!) - so why stress over the food? Keep the recipes you turn to as simple as possible, and you can spend more time watching Maroon5 and less time fussing in the kitchen!

Our solution: the slow cooker! Giada transformed her classic Chili Verde into a slow cooker standby, making it the perfect addition to your game-day spread. As with most Superbowl feasts, the cheesy and salty snacks are in abundance but guests need something substantial (and ideally nutritious) to fill up on. This recipe hits all the notes, and is so delicious your guests will never guess it's healthy, too... or notice that it's totally vegetarian!

Chili Verde

With hearty ingredients that pack a ton of flavor— we're talking smokey poblano peppers, zingy tomatillos and lots of beloved Mexican aromatics— this soup will go fast. The real fun, of course, is in the toppings. Set out bowls of feta, green onions, avocado, lime wedges and chopped serrano chiles so guests can garnish it to their hearts' content. And if you want to really go all-out, Giada's Buttermilk Cornbread makes a perfect accompaniment.

The best part? Throw everything in the slow cooker that morning, go about your day, and your Chili Verde will be bubbling and ready right on time for kickoff.
