We're all about sustainable and eco-friendly wine over here at the Giadzy kitchen, and here's our staff pick for 2 organic wines we're loving for the holiday season ahead.
We gave you guys the low-down on eco-friendly wine a few months back, and we're back to share two organic wines from a winemaker in Sicily that we're loving. The winemaker is Arianna Occhipinti, who expresses her love and respect for the land in the form is these beautiful wines. She considers the Sicilian land she farms on to be a gift, and she gives back by maintaining biodiversity in the soil, and maintaining its natural balance. This thoughtful care that starts from the soil shines in the lovely balance of the wine she creates.
Occhipinti wine is made from grapes grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides in the vineyard... the natural Italian way! These are 2 organic wines from them that we absolutely love - along with some pairing ideas from the winery themselves.
SP68 Sicilia Bianco, Arianna Occhipinti - 2018
$29.99
"This elegant Zibibbo is exploding with aromatic. White flowers, green sudsy herbs, & freshly washed cotton sheets. A clean mineral driven palate makes this wine perfect for loads of dishes from flaky white fish, linguini in clam sauce or even a pasta bolognese."
SP68 IGT Sicilia Rosso, Arianna Occhipinti - 2018
$29.99
"The SP68 is a blend of Frappato and Nero d’Avola, named after a highway near Arianna’s home town of Vittoria. With bright aromatics of raspberry, cherry and garrigue, this is a year-round red wine to serve slightly chilled and paired with grilled lamb."
