Easter is an important holiday in Italian tradition, and we've got Giada's menu to match!
In Italy, Easter is a huge holiday - second only to Christmas in its importance! While you won't find many Easter bunnies if you happen to find yourself there during the holiday, you will be in the midst of many parades, celebrations and specialty food items. We're taking a bit of that festive spirit and translating it into our new Easter menu for 2019 - with some familiar suspects, and some new!
If there's one dish that has a very high easiness-to-impressiveness ratio, it's a charcuterie board. Assorted cheese, salumi, olives, crackers and breads couldn't be easier to prepare, and yet an overflowing platter always wows a crowd. The star of this cheese platter is our favorite Italian condiment, mostarda - and this sweet-and-tangy Grape Mostarda recipe is charcuterie's best friend. You can prep the mostarda a day ahead of time, and pop it out of the fridge when it's time to serve!
In celebration of spring's bounty, we're highlighting seasonal asparagus. This simple salad is brimming with bright Italian flavor, from the blend of sweet charred melon to the earthy, savory asparagus. Herbs, lime juice and Calabrian chili paste punch it up, and it gets a fresh shaving of Ricotta Salata to tie it all together.
And in keeping in Italian tradition, there's one dish that remains the star year after year: lamb. Giada's Italian Springtime Lamb makes for a perfect and approachable main. It's impressive, but not all that to make-- it just requires a bit of patience.
Springy Peas with Bacon and Prosecco alongside Lemony Smashed Potatoes round of the side dishes for this springtime-friendly menu.
And off course, we didn't forget about dessert! Giada's spin on traditonal Pane Di Pasqua, or "Easter Bread," is in the form of delicious, citrusy and slightly-spiced cinnamon rolls. Just don't forget to whip up some cups of espresso to go along with it!
