If you're looking for a relaxing beach atmosphere in Positano, Fornillo is the place to go.
Positano boasts two captivating main beaches: Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo Beach. Spiaggia Grande is the one you've seen in all the photos - it's right at the base of town, with bustling ambience and proximity to tons of bars and restaurants. It's not to be missed, but when you're opting for a quieter and more idyllic beach destination, turn to Fornillo Beach.
Like everywhere else in Positano, you get to Fornillo by walking. It's just a 10 to 15 minute walk from Spiaggia Grande - simply head west and walk the Via Positanesi d'America until you hit Fornillo Beach. The walk has beautiful views of the water all throughout - it's a treat in itself!
If you're higher up on the hill in Positano, walk down Via Lepanto to reach Fornillo.
Nestled between rocky cliffs, this hidden gem offers a peaceful haven away from the bustling crowds. You can still rent kayaks, grab a bite to eat, and accomplish all the same activities at Spiagga Grande - just with fewer people!
Note: Fornillo beach is flanked by cliffs from the west, which start to block the setting sun in the late afternoon. If you want to sunbathe, make sure you get there earlier in the day!
