Every kitchen needs a versatile extra virgin olive oil, and this one from Fratepietro is a stunner. It’s made from a blend of bella di Cerignola and coratina olives grown in sunny Puglia on the Fratepietro family estate. It is well-balanced enough to use in everyday cooking but has a crisp flavor that shines as a finishing oil.
Bella di Cerignola olives have been grown around the northern Puglian town of (you guessed it!) Cerignola for centuries, and are protected by DOP certification—an official seal of approval that identifies the most special regional foods in the country. They have a characteristically nutty, mild flavor and buttery texture prized by olive aficionados around the world. Coratina olives have a strong, spicy flavor that, when combined with the mild Cerignolas, gives this olive oil just the right amount of oomph.
On the heel of Italy's boot, Puglia is known for its beautiful whitewashed towns, sparkling beaches, and rich agricultural history. It's also home to Agricola Fratepietro, a fifth-generation family-owned company that has been growing Bella di Cerignola olives since 1890. Their olives are picked by hand to ensure each one is perfectly ripe, and are cold-pressed just a few hours later to make this beautifully fruity oil.
