Dessert will be an unforgettable experience in the form of this amazing Tiramisu bar!
On our last visit to Rome, we were strolling around Trastevere in search of a sweet bite after dinner - when we saw a large neon sign advertising "TIRAMISU" we knew we better pop in. To our surprise, it wasn't just a shop selling tiramisu - but a shop selling made-to-order tiramisu in any flavor combination you could dream of!
Needless to say, we went back a second night... and maybe a third.
This cute little store inspired us to make a dessert spread in a similar style by creating a Tiramisu bar for guests to go wild with their personal tiramisus. If it's a larger group, set up a sign with the easy steps: grab your personal container with lady fingers, give them a spritz of espresso & rum, then let them choose their toppings.
The prep is easy! Make mascarpone whipped cream by whipping up 2 1/2 cups of cream, 16oz of mascarpone, 1 cup of powdered sugar and a pinch of salt together until fluffy. Take half of the mascarpone cream out, and fold in 1/4 cup of cocoa powder into the other half for a plain and chocolate option.
After that, the only prep left is setting out the food! Place ladyfingers next to espresso and rum in a squeeze bottle, then the mascarpone cream, then all of your desired toppings. For ours, we went for nutella, caramel sauce, berries and toasted nuts - but you can go wild! Crushed cookies, candies, banana slices - pick the toppings of your dreams!
The best part about this dessert is that it's all prep and no cooking for you. Have fun setting out a cute, interactive table and the dessert course will quickly turn into an activity in an of itself. Everyone will be snapping shots of their personal creations, and might copy you for future gatherings!
