This drink, which translates to “lemon seltzer,” is a beloved hot-day refresher in Sicily. It’s about as simple as can be: a blend of fresh lemon juice, salt, and sparkling water. Traditionally, this drink is made with salt straight from the Mediterranean sea that surrounds Sicily, but any salt will do!

The lightly salty flavor gives the drink extra hydration, perfect during a heatwave or even after a workout - you can liken the taste and efficient hydrating effects to electrolyte drinks that are ever-growing in popularity. Some Sicilians even swear that this drink is the perfect digestivo to sip on after a hefty meal. Whenever you choose to drink it, it's the ultimate sipper for the warmest of days.
