Tap on This Pro Trick for Luscious, Natural Lips
By: Julie Morgan
Julie shares a makeup artist secret that’s easy to do at home for a long-lasting pout.
When your job involves talking, tasting, and talking some more, your lipstick really gets a workout! I’ve struggled for years with color that fades, bleeds, or disappears halfway through the day, and have always found long-wearing lipstick formulas especially dry and uncomfortable. That is, until Julie Morgantaught me this neat trick for color that lasts and lasts, and looks gorgeously natural, to boot! The secret is in the tap; I put a lip liner to work as an all-over color, then tap it in with a fingertip to blend and lock in the color. Top with a gloss, and I’m ready for the day!
Here are the products I’ve been loving for this trick:
FACE Stockholm Legacy Wheel
Doing double duty! Tap one of these peachy colors on lips and use the leftover color on the apples of your cheeks. The four-panel wheel even includes a light pink gloss to seal in color and moisturize.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama
This lip pencil and lipstick in one is so easy to apply, you can walk, talk and tap on an effortless lip all at the same time! I love this maple plum tone, which feels like winter and won’t rub off on your scarves.
Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder Lipstick
Get glamorously runway-ready with a special collaboration between the posh designer and makeup veterans. Tap in the matte lipstick to finish and feel sassy in any of this season’s colors.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Seduction
My new favorite color! This gives a sexy, velvety pout, and the slim tube fits in any evening or event bag. Make sure to give it a good tap to help reduce the stickiness of the gloss.
Makeup Forever Lip Pencil in 3C
When I need my color to go the extra mile, I turn to this pencil rather than a drying lip creme. It feels absolutely lovely on your smile, and lasts, well, forever!
