Take Sangria To The Next Level With This Easy Trick
By: The Giadzy Kitchen
Edible flowers make this simple sangria a sight to behold
Sangria has always been one of our entertaining secret weapons (and we always order a glass of it at Giada Vegas!) It’s an incredibly simple cocktail to make, especially for a crowd, and it looks beautiful in a pitcher or punchbowl with fruit and garnishes.
And because we’re all about seriously easy tips that make us look like rockstar hostesses, we have a new trick up our sleeve to make sangria (or any punchbowl cocktail) have some serious wow-factor.
The secret? Edible flowers!
Tons of grocery stores these days, including Whole Foods and Gelson’s, have pretty edible flowers conveniently located in the produce section next to herbs. From nasturtiums to borage blossoms to pansies, this extra pop of color will make your cocktail of choice look seriously beautiful – and you can even take a tip from Giada and put one behind your ear to match! ??
Here, we used Giada’s Mimosa Sangria – perhaps the simplest cocktail possible (1 gallon of orange juice, 1 bottle of prosecco, lots of fruit and mint!), and it turns any ordinary brunch into an instagrammable affair! Strawberries, slices of orange and mint leaves alongside the flowers creates an eye-catching pop of color that everyone will want a glass of.
Just be certain to only buy edible flowers from the produce section of the grocery store! Regular bouquets and stems from anywhere else can be sprayed with pesticides, and you certainly don’t want those floating around in something you’ll be drinking.
