Send a sweetly Italian Valentine’s Day greeting with this set featuring two of our favorite chocolates from the north of Italy. Both are made by master chocolatiers in the Piedmont region, known as the chocolate capital of Italy. They each have more than a century of experience crafting delicious, beautiful sweets that captivate and delight chocolate lovers young and old. This set contains a bag of milk chocolate and hazelnut truffles from Antica Torroneria Piemontese and a heart-shaped tin of assorted chocolates from Venchi.
One of our favorite Italian Valentine’s Day traditions is to give baci chocolates, whose name means “kiss,” to a loved one. These truffles from Antica Torroneria Piemontese are a take on that classic candy, which wraps a whole hazelnut in chocolate. We think these truffles are even better, with creamy milk chocolate studded with crisp chunks of caramelized hazelnuts. They’re made by fifth-generation chocolate experts in Alba who specialize in nocciola Piemontese. These local hazelnuts are so special, not only are they protected by IGP designation, their orchards are actually a UNESCO heritage site! Nocciola piemontese are more flavorful than your average hazelnut, with a rich, complex fragrance. Picked by hand in the grove, they have a hard, compact shell and are slightly smaller than other varieties.
The keepsake tin from Venchi will be just as special once the delicious chocolates are gone (but they’ll definitely enjoy the chocolates first!). The beautiful flower-adorned tin contains an assortment of heart-shaped chocolates in solid milk and 75% dark chocolate to satisfy their light and dark cravings. Once the official chocolatier of the royal family of Italy, Venchi has been making exquisite chocolates since 1878. Based in Turin, home to an annual chocolate festival, Venchi is dedicated to perfecting their craft using only the best ingredients from Italy and around the world.
