Keep it stress-free — for yourself and the host —with these easy, no reheat necessary apps.
It’s no secret I love to entertain but I get equally excited to be invited to someone else’s house, especially when there’s a potluck involved. I love seeing (and tasting!) what everyone brings and it always makes for a fun conversation starter.
One of the biggest questions I get asked is, “What can I bring to a potluck?” followed by, “Can I make it ahead?” Well, there’s an easy solution! My motto is always to keep it simple. Think about what will travel well and pick a recipe that doesn’t require reheating. Trust me, your host will thank you— they’re likely to have their own goodies in the oven.
For now, don’t worry, I’ve picked three easy dishes that everyone will love, and they won't take long to make either!
Crostini are a go-to for at-home entertaining but they also travel extremely well. The trick is to travel with everything separately (brussels mixture, ricotta and toasted crostini) then assemble once you arrive. Big plus: all of the ingredients will hold for 2-3 hours at room temp. That’s longer than they’ll last on the table!
The hardest part about this dish will be carrying it fro, your place to the party without taking a bite. Just leave it in the sheet tray you baked it in and wrap well once it’s completely cooled. When you get to the party, just slice it up and serve.
The ultimate crowd pleaser. This just gets better as it sits, so make it the day before, fridge it overnight and you’re good to go. And, this doesn’t even require real estate in your host’s drive. Just don’t forget to grab chips on your way to the party.
