No-Pressure Resolutions
This year, I’m setting one major resolution for myself – to not take resolutions so seriously.
Now that doesn’t mean I’m giving up! I’m just pushing away any pressures that the words “New Year, New Me” might manifest. Instead, I’m setting some goals, albeit a few of them are more for fun than anything, and giving them my all in 2017.
So first, raise your hand if your little one is a picky eater? My hand is definitely raised. In 2016 Jade decided it was the year of knowing what she likes and liking what she knows. Thanks to her DNA, she loves pasta and cheese, but now she’s hesitant to try new things. I’m currently compiling a list of recipes to expand her palette in 2017, which I’ll post soon in case you’re dealing with your own strong-willed little human.
This past year was also the year of binge-watching. Netflix and I became very well acquainted, but with the ease of watching movies at home, it kept me from planning more outings to the theater, which is always something I’ve loved to do. I want to start simple by doing more mommy-daughter movie dates with Jade and take it from there. Baby steps! Because when “Stranger Things” comes back, I can’t make any promises.
And that leads to something else I’m already working on: a trip with my girlfriends. I have the most amazing group of girlfriends – you probably know a few of them if you’ve been watching my shows for the last decade! We used to take trips at least twice a year and in the past few years, we haven’t been able to get a single one on the books. Life has kept us all busy for different reasons, but if we start planning now, there’s a pretty good chance we can get our schedules to sync up to share a weekend with a cocktail or two.
And hopefully, those cocktails will be low in sugar! For me cutting back on sugar is a recurring theme year in and year out. I blame chocolate. We’ll see how this one goes.
Part of Jade's pickiness is age. ALL three of my kids at around that age, who ate everything and anything, got very picky. It started to change back around 12-13. I rolled with it. Don't feel too bad. Cutting back on sugar is good, but not the point where you don't enjoy life. Moderation is the key to all. Happy New Year!!
UMM LET'S C WHAT AM I GOING TO DO 4 MY NEW YEAH'S RESOLUTION? I'M THINKING HEARüòå I KNOW WATCH MORE GIADA & JADE & AUNT RAFFYüòé!!!!üéâüéâüéäüéäüéáüéÜ
I am also going to set goals verses a resolution which most of the time doesn't work anyways .... top goals : Cutting out sugar , portion control and stop eating late at night with getting more shut eye zzzzzzzz's . Your Giada's Feel Good Food book will come in handy for the start of 2017 (Bucket list : Happy Cooking) 2017
I think that we struggle with sugar because it is added to so many foods. I have given up on resolutions and instead set a word for each goal and work it that way. I do a yearly doodle of great memories from each year of things completed. And then move onto doodles to help with creating my goals for the new year...it works for me....the doodling relaxes me...Happy 2017!
You and me both on the cutting out sugar!!! I second that chocolate is to blame. My New Years resolution is to get my boyfriend to eat healthier, we will see how that one goes! His favorite foods are pizza and nachos. He's 26...let me know what you end up cooking for Jade because it might be a good way to sneak vegetables into my picky eater.
