Giada showed us how to make an avocado rose on Instagram - and it looks surprisingly easy to do!

We've seen avocados featured on toast in a myriad of ways in the last few years - who knew that avocados and bread would become such popular artistic mediums? While we've seen avocado roses before, they're making a resurgence in a big way on Tik Tok, which has been responsible for the most viral food trends of 2020. Giada gave it a go and showed us how to do it, and what do you know - it's not that complicated after all. Watch Giada's video on her Instagram, and check out the instructions below on how to do it. Fancy avocado toast, here we come!

What you'll need:

1 ripe or slightly underripe avocado (a mushy one will be too hard to work with - save it for guacamole!)
1 cherry tomato
1 small cube of mozzarella
1 slice of bread
Olive oil and salt, to taste
A sharp knife!

Instructions:
1. Cut the avocado in half, and peel off the skin. You can either carefully tear the skin off of the entire half, or use a large spoon to scoop the avocado out.
2. Lay the avocado half cut-side down, and cut the avocado into as many thin slices as possible from top to bottom. The thinner the slices are, the easier it will be to shape and roll it into a rose!
3. Fan out the slices into a long shingled line of cuts so that they're all laying flat on your work surface. Make sure they're all overlapping one another! Starting from either end, carefully start curling the slices toward the middle. Keep curling the avocado slices, working outward, until you get a rose.
4. Gently place the avocado rose onto your bread of choice. For a finishing touch, cut a crosshatch into a cherry tomato, being carefully not to slice all the way through. Place it in the center of the avocado rose, and add a small cube of mozzarella to the center. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and enjoy!
