A Spin On A Gingerbread House And Brunch In One!

A few weeks back, Giada asked you all for some tips on getting Jade excited about gingerbread houses again, and her fav suggestion didn't involve gingerbread at all...
...but instead, waffles!
We love the idea of food that you can play with and then eat right after you snap a pic (anything goes during the holidays, right?) instead of a long-lasting gingerbread house that sits on the shelf. There's less pressure, more whipped cream, and more instant yum!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Square waffles (7 total)
Royal Icing in a piping bag
Whipped Cream
Berries
Pretzels for windows
All the candy you want!
HOW TO BUILD:
Start by toasting up 4 square-shaped waffles, and then allow them to cool for a few minutes so they can be handled. For the front-facing wall, cut out a small rectangle at the bottom of the waffle for the door (as Jade is showing below!).
Next, start "gluing" the pieces together with royal icing to create the base of the house. The less icing you can use to stick the pieces together, the better - this way it dries more quickly, and you avoid having a big gloopy mess. Cans come in handy here to help hold the house in place while it dries!
Next, toast up 3 more waffles. Cut one in half diagonally for the front and back pieces of the roof, as you can see below. Then, use two whole waffles for each remaining side of the roof - you may need to trim off a bit to make them fit just right. Make sure you are patient after each addition so that the royal icing has time to dry!
Once the house is assembled, it's candy time! Add buttersnap pretzels for windows, whipped cream swooshes for snow, sour candies for bushes, and berries - because they are waffles, after all!
Once you've snapped your pic, it's time to eat... and grab the maple syrup!
