These snacks taste as good as they make you feel - and they're all available at the grocery store.
As a chef, I've always been partial to cooking at home, from make-ahead breakfast to snacks and everything in between. But after having Jade, and adjusting to my role as a (busy!) working mom, I learned, it's OK to ask for help-- even in the kitchen. Thankfully, packaged foods have come a long way in the past few years, and there are some really great, clean options that I can feel good about buying for myself and Jade… and equally important in my book, these ones taste great, too! Here's what I'm loving -- and buying-- at the moment.
Simply7 PopcornI teamed up with Simply7 to create this line with Jade in mind-- to make a delicious grab-and-go snack for her without all the processed or nasty ingredients. Now that it's on shelves, I always grab a few bags every time I'm at the market. With non-GMO corn, simple ingredients and addicting flavors like parmesan cheese and sea salt, it's everything I want in a snack.
Santa Cruz Cranberry NectarI love this juice, because that's all it is - juice! No corn syrup or added sugars whatsoever, and totally organic. The fact that it's produced locally is another added bonus!
Dark Chocolate Chunk KIND BarsI always like to make Jade
nutritious school lunches from scratch, but she needs snacks to sustain her throughout the day - and these are a favorite. Minimalism is the name of the game with KIND bars, and the limited ingredients keep these nothing but nutritional. I buy the dark chocolate for Jade, and grab a few espresso-chocolate for me.
BEAR Real Fruit YoYosThese are another Jade favorite for school, and the tagline "fruit rolls with no added nonsense" is exactly why I'm drawn to them. Pure fruit (and even some veggies snuck in!) with absolutely nothing else - second only to
making fresh fruit rollups at home!
OLLI Pre-Sliced SalamiI always have some of these in the fridge. If I don't have something homemade for Jade's lunch, I'll pack more picnic-style fare for her and this is a great source of protein. The salame is all-natural, sustainably farmed and based on a centuries-old Italian recipe - so not only does it taste incredible authentic, but it's a product you can feel good about all-around.
