Behold, our April Fool's Day recipe coined by ChatGPT... which actually turned out to be delicious! We asked the internet's most controversial AI tool to give us a unique, original Italian recipe, and it delivered with ravioli nachos.

We had to give this recipe a fair amount of tweaking to work out properly, so while we might not be handing the recipe development reins over to ChatGPT anytime soon, we can certainly thank it for giving us a pretty tasty idea. The result? Flavorful, crispy bites of ravioli with melty cheese and marinara sauce.

You can top these crispy bites with just about anything. We opted for parsley, olives, marinara and Calabrian chili paste, but pesto or marinated peppers would have been delicious too.

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, paprika and salt.

  2. In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
  3. Dip each ravioli in the egg mixture and then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs to adhere.
  4. Add at least 2 inches of oil to a heavy-bottomed skillet. Heat over medium-high heat. Fry the ravioli in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. In a large baking dish, spread the layer of fried ravioli. Top with mozzarella cheese and bake until golden brown, about 7 to 10 minutes.
  6. Top with warmed marinara sauce, fresh parsley, black olives, Calabrian chili paste, or any of your favorite toppings.
